On the extremely rough roads of Rally Turkey Andreas and Anders proved they have the pace needed to win. The Norwegian pairing took the lead already on Thursday evening, when they went fastest through the opening stage, 2,5 seconds ahead of the second fastest on the 2 kilometre stage. They continued with leading the rally with two more occasions Friday and Saturday, before driveshaft issues sent them out of to fight for victory. Sunday it was all about securing important points for the team.
– It’s a lot of positives to take home from here, we have been fighting for a lead and were leading the rally with nearly 40 seconds until we had problems. Very disappointing of course, but we take the good feeling with us when we go home from here. Already looking ahead to Wales Rally GB and to fight for victory there, a victory I felt we almost had here in Turkey.
Ott Tanak won the event, Jari-Matti Latvala ended second, while Hayde Paddon took the final step on the podium. Both Thierry Neuville and Sebastien Ogier had to retire on Saturday.
