The second season of the all electric World RX will kick off in Montalegre, Portugal, the coming weekend.

Five time world champion Johan Kristoffersson and Ole Christian Veiby are ready to yet again fight for a place on top of the podium.

Last year Kristoffersson won his fifth title after winning 8 out of 10 races. Together with Veiby they also won the team championship for Volkswagen Dealerteam Bauhaus.

In front of the new season there's been some adjustments to the rules. The two electric engines in the cars will now work together much better, thanks to new software.

- The new car is faster and so much more fun to drive. This year we will see tighter racing and more takeovers. The improvement of the car gives you more opportunities, flexibility, in driving style. Last year you had to stick to the optimal line, says Johan Kristoffersson.

The last week the team has been in Montalegre for preseason testing infront of the season opener.

– We have had three really great test days here in Montalegre. We received the answers we were looking for from our improvements and this is such an awesome track, says Kristoffersson.

Veiby is ready for his second season in World RX, after making the transition from rally to rallycross last year.

Ole Christian started the season well, and was P2 in the overall standings for a long time before struggling with the car for several rounds. He ended up with five podiums and P4 overall.

After driving a lot of rallies this winter, and two competitions in RallyX Nordic he feels ready for the season opener in Montalegre this weekend.

– Last year a lot was new for me. Especially the transition from rally to rallycross, and also competing on the highest level in rallycross with a lot of fast and smart competitors. This year I feel a lot more confident than last year. I know that I have the speed to fight for podiums, and personally I really want to get my first win in WRX. Not gonna be easy of course, but I’ll try my best, he says.

The teams goal for this season is clear: Repeat last year and win both team and drivers championship.

Saturday it all kicks off!
